Nā Hula ‘O Moku‘āina Kūhai Hālau is the Hawaiian name for Aloha Studio’s dance performance troupe; Motu‘āina is the Tahitian name. Together with Karl Michael Ha‘aheo Blankenship, Kumu Catherine has choreographed dances, designed costuming, and composed musical arrangements that have won numerous awards and been featured in exciting performances over the years.

Our Hālau has performed throughout California, Nevada, Hawai‘i, and Tahiti.

To join the Hālau, new students should complete one of the 6-week Beginning Workshops offered. Upon completion of the workshop, students may ask to join one of the Hālau classes and are subject to knowledge of basics and willingness to work diligently. Confirmation is by Kumu.

Please note that new students may also opt to either repeat a Beginning Workshop to help solidify knowledge of basics or elect to move into one of the “Lite” classes where in-depth knowledge of the artform and only casual performance is expected.
